What is the Singapore Video Measurement Panel (SVMP)?


It is a panel of Singapore residents that allow their online media consumption via smartphones, tablets and computers. The panel is operated by AMPD Research, a subsidiary of Media Partners Asia Research Services Pte Ltd (MPA).




Why is it needed?


Streaming services, telecom providers, movie studios and TV broadcasters need to understand who is watching what programmes and advertisers need to know where to place their advertising. To do this they must know how many people of different backgrounds and ages watch each programme. The information may also be used to understand how to best market and promote particular show or movie titles.




Who uses the information collected from the panel?


The information is used by the many organisations involved in making video content. These include movie studios, video on demand services, technology companies, telecom providers and TV broadcasters. The data collected helps them better understand the audience for different types of show or movie title as well as how to best promote them. It provides a clear picture of who is and who is not watching different types programmes. This helps programme makers decide which shows they should make, include on their service or invest in. Viewing data from the panel are also used by the advertising industry to help them decide where to place commercials.




How big is the Singapore Video Measurement Panel?


This is a new service, so the panel will initially consists of between 500 to 600 people. However, over time this will grow to several thousand people.




What do I need to do?


The first step is to complete a short questionnaire to see if you qualify to join the panel. Not everyone can join because the panel must be carefully balanced to represent a cross-section of the Singapore population in order to be as representative as possible. If you have qualified to join the panel, you will be sent a link by SMS or Email to download an app onto the devices you use to watch video content online. These include any smartphones, tablets or computers you use.




What if I want to cancel my subscription to a VOD service?


The objective of the panel is to measure actual behavior, so you should do exactly what you would normally do. This includes changes in your subscription or usage of VOD services, so please do not change your behavior in any way. If you are considering cancelling or signing-up for new service, continue as you normally would.




What are the rewards?


You will receive rewards points as a thank you for participating in the panel. The amount will depend on the number of devices that are monitored. For each device that is monitored a special App called “AnalyzeMe” must be installed. You will receive points immediately upon the successful installation of this App. The rewards are given in the form of points that can be redeemed for cash or vouchers that can be used at a large range of F&B outlets, shops and online retailers. You can also use the point to donate to charities.

Upon successful installation of the AnalyzeMe software/app on your device, you will receive 250 points, then another 250 after the first week of installation – that’s 500 point per device in the first week.

You can earn extra points by installing the AnalyzeMe app on multiple devices. This means that is possible to earn 1500 point in first week if you install on 3 devices, e.g. 1 smartphone, 1 tablet and 1 computer.

The points structure per device is as follows:

You also receive an additional 1000 bonus points for each family or household member who installs the app/software who remains active for a month.

These points can be redeemed for e-vouchers that can be exchanged for cash or shopping vouchers. You will need a minimum of 1000 points before you can start redeeming.

If other members of your family qualify for the panel, you can combine points to redeem for a larger reward.




How can I redeem the rewards?


Panel members will receive rewards via email automatically once the successful installation of the app/software is completed, then at intervals. A gift code is sent via Email that can be redeemed at giftly.com where panel members can choose their preferred way to receive the reward. Panellists can also choose to receive their reward via the following

  • Transfer to your credit or debit card
  • Bank deposit
  • PayPal transfer
  • Visa Gift Card




Can my friends and family join?


The panel is not open to everyone, as each person must complete a joining questionnaire to see if they qualify. However, anyone is eligible to apply.




Can my children join the panel?


Yes, anyone aged 4 and above can join the panel if they are using a smartphone, tablet or computer to view online video content. We do expect that it may be necessary for an adult to complete the joining survey and to install the app on devices for younger children. Parents must also explicitly give their permission for children under the age of 15 to participate.




How long do I need to be on the panel?


You can stay on as long as you like. We do ask though that you participate for a minimum of 3 months.





Smartphone & Tablet App FAQs

Will the app affect the way my smartphone, tablet or computer works?


The AnalyzeMe app is fully certified for use on all smartphones, tablets and computers. Rigorous testing procedures are employed to ensure it is compatible with as many different types of device or computer as possible.




How long does the App installation take?


The installation of the App takes only a few minutes for each device. Instructions for each devices can be found here.




It looks like the app is using lots of data!


The application will send a tiny amount of data each day over the internet so you won’t notice an impact on your data allowance. Although this is only a small amount, we recommend you have a data plan on your phone, or connect to Wi-Fi whenever possible, or your network provider may charge you.

If you check your data allowance on your phone, you may see data being used by the VPN. The app utilizes a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for us to be able to see which Apps are being used during the study. When apps are used and the VPN is enabled, the data usage is attributed to the AnalyzeMe App / VPN instead of the App actually in use. The VPN is not actually using any data, it is the app in use that is generating this data.

Take the following example:

  1. You install the AnalyzeMe app and VPN.

  2. You then use your device to watch 2GB of videos on YouTube.

  3. If you then look at the data usage stats, the 2GB data will show as being generated by the VPN and not the app that originally generated the request (in this case, YouTube).




How do I remove the AnalyzeMe App?


If you are using an Android phone, simply open ‘Settings’, scroll down to Apps, find AnalyzeMe, and then click ‘Uninstall’.

If you are using an iPhone, simply hold down on the app icon. When an ‘X’ appears above AnalyzeMe, tap the ‘X’ to remove the app.

You should also contact your oy recruitment partner, InsightzClub via Email so that they can close your account for you. The contact details are: contactus@insightzclub.com




My phone does not have a data plan; can I still participate?


As long as your phone is connected to Wi-Fi every day, then you can still participate.




What is the VPN?


VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It is a research tool that allows us to understand how you use the internet.




How do I install the VPN on Android?


The VPN will install automatically when you download the app.




How do I install the VPN on iOS?


Once you have completed the app setup, you will be prompted to install the VPN. You will be guided through the simple steps to set up the VPN.




How do I install on Android?


To install on an Android device, simply tap the link that we send to you. The link will take you to the Google Play store. You should then just tap “Install” and allow the app to download. Simple as that! Please note that if you download directly from the Google Play Store rather than using the link we send you, you will be unable to register your app.




How do I install on iOS?


When downloading the app on an apple phone, the link will take you to a screen containing app download instructions, however the app will be downloading automatically in the background. If you go to where your other apps are, you will see the AnalyzeMe app downloading. If you are using iOS 9 or higher, please follow the steps below.

In order to allow the AnalyzeMe app to be used, you need to make sure that our software development partner, RealityMine Ltd, is selected as a trusted publisher of applications.
Don’t worry, this won’t allow unauthorized software to be used on your device, it will only give permission to the AnalyzeMe app.

  1. Open the AnalyzeMe App

  2. If the AnalyzeMe app isn’t yet trusted, when you open it for the first time, your iPhone or iPad will display the message indicated below:

To allow the AnalyzeMe app to be used, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Open Settings and navigate to General and then Profiles/Device Management

  2. The Profile screen will then be displayed.

Note: If you have installed profiles for other apps, they may also be listed here.
Tap ‘RealityMine Limited’

  1. On the screen which appears tap the button labelled ‘Trust RealityMine Limited’

  2. When prompted, confirm you trust AnalyzeMe and our software development partner, RealityMine Limited, by pressing the button labelled ‘Trust’

After confirming you trust the application, the RealityMine Limited profile will now show as being verified

Now that the AnalyzeMe app is trusted you can press the ‘Home’ button and launch the AnalyzeMe app and continue registration and set-up.




I’m being asked to install a certificate. What should I do?


You may be asked to install an additional certificate on your phone, and you will know if you need to do so because you will see a symbol in the notification area with ‘install certificate’ next to it.

Installing the certificate is easy. Just follow the on-screen prompts. Please note that you will need to set a lock screen on your phone if you continue.

To install the certificate:

  1. Give the certificate a name and press OK. The default certificate name is fine.

  2. Follow the prompts to set either a PIN or a pattern for your lock screen. Remember what this is, since you will need it to unlock your phone!

  3. You will then see a small pop-up message on the screen letting you know the certificate has been installed.




I have changed phones. What should I do?


If you get a new phone and want to continue participating, please contact our panel provider, InsightzClub, via Email and they will send you a new download link for your new handset. The Email is: contactus@insightzclub.com

What will AnalyzeMe do?

How will I know if my phone supports the app?


Our app works on iOS 9 and above. For Android devices, the app will work on Android 5.0 and above




How will I know if the app is working?


On Android you will see a small application icon in the notification area of the screen which indicates the application is running.

On iPhone you will see the application listed if you double-tap the home key. Do not swipe the app away from this list as it will stop the app running.




How do I check which version of iOS I have?


To check your version of iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Tap ‘General’
  3. Tap ‘About’
  4. Scroll down and look for ‘Version’




How do I check the version of Android on my phone?


From your home screen, press Menu > Settings (or find settings in your app drawer/dock) > About Phone. Scroll all the way down and find the version.




Do I need to leave my phone on?
